Two-doors east of West Town’s Family Dollar store, Mexique masters exquisite fare and exceptional service. Carlos Gaytan and Iliamar Isaac (husband and wife) are the proud parents of this modish Chicago restaurant. Not another want-to-be upscale eatery, Mexique features a synthesis of Mexican and French cuisine, epitomizing an exploration of palate ecstasy.
Pork shoulder rillettes or the chicken tostaditas are appetizing starters. Vegetarians rave over the crepes stuffed with wild mushroom. A recent special revealed a crunchy pan seared exterior, giving way to molten morsels of fresh halibut. The rack of lamb married to the braised lamb shoulder barbacoa is a prevalently preferred option. Between its exquisite fare, an array of wine and impeccable service, Mexique is a definitive dining recommendation.
