Boka Chicago, off the northeast corner of Halsted and Willow
A Lincoln Park gem, named Boka resides several buildings north of the Steppenwolf Theatre, on the opposite side of Halsted Street. The décor exudes a refined modernism, where Chef Giuseppe Tentori presents a selection of sublime starters. There’s the green tea-dusted scallops (with extra crispy pig feet) and grilled ricotta salata.
Hearty main courses include the short rib ravioli and lake trout with escargot tortellini. A side of mac and cheese with edamame almost steals the show.
Nevertheless, an intriguing roster of desserts and well-chosen wines leave an indelible impression. Compared to other Chicago restaurants, Boka’s exceptional service exceeds the norm.
